Washington, D.C. – On July 15 and 16, 2025, President Donald Trump publicly dismissed the ongoing inquiry into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, labeling it "pretty boring stuff" and expressing confusion over the continued fascination with the case, particularly among his own supporters.
Speaking to reporters, Trump suggested that only "bad people" and "fake news" entities were interested in keeping the Epstein files controversy alive. Despite his dismissive remarks, he also stated that he would support the release of any "credible" information related to the case. "I don't understand why the Jeffrey Epstein case would be of interest to anybody," Trump reportedly told journalists. "It's pretty boring stuff. It's sordid, but it's boring, and I don't understand why it keeps going. I think really only pretty bad people, including fake news, want to keep something like that going."
Trump's comments came amidst escalating demands for transparency from within his own political base, with many conservatives expressing belief that the administration was suppressing Epstein-related documents to protect powerful figures. This renewed focus on the Epstein case followed the Justice Department's conclusion last week that Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while in federal custody, and that no client list would be made public.
The former president's remarks also drew attention to Attorney General Pam Bondi, whom some critics within the MAGA movement have targeted over her previous claims about an Epstein client list. Trump, however, indicated that Bondi had handled the matter well and that any credible information would be released at her discretion.
