Princess Delphine of Belgium has publicly come to the defense of Prince Harry, expressing her sympathy and asserting that he is being "bullied" by the public and that his actions stem from unresolved trauma. In a recent interview, Princess Delphine, who is the half-sister of King Philippe of Belgium and an illegitimate daughter of former monarch King Albert II, drew parallels between her own experiences as a "politically exposed person" without protection and Prince Harry's current situation.
Princess Delphine, a non-working royal herself, stated she "understands the guy" and "feels sorry for him," particularly in light of his recent court battle over security in the UK. She believes that Harry has "suffered so much" and is "traumatized," and that these deep-seated issues are now emerging. "Everybody's bullying him, but not thinking about his trauma," she commented, finding it "terrible because he's just been kind of left."
She empathized with Prince Harry, noting her own connection to Princess Diana, whose death she described as "horrible" and traumatic for Harry. Delphine also highlighted how her own career as an artist suffered due to public backlash despite the circumstances of her birth not being her fault. She won a court case to be officially recognized as her father's daughter and receive the title of princess.
While acknowledging that titles aren't her primary concern, Princess Delphine noted their "heavier weight" for charity events, which makes her "feel very proud."
This defense from a European royal offers a new perspective on Prince Harry's public image and his ongoing challenges.
