Teotihuacan: City of the Gods Aligned with the Sun

Teotihuacan, located near modern-day Mexico City, was one of the largest cities of the ancient world. Built around 100 BCE, it became a cultural and religious center that influenced civilizations across Mesoamerica.

The city’s layout reflects astronomical precision. The Pyramid of the Sun is aligned with the setting sun on specific dates, while the Pyramid of the Moon mirrors lunar cycles. The Avenue of the Dead runs along a north-south axis, possibly symbolizing the cosmic order.

These alignments suggest that Teotihuacan was not only a political and economic hub but also a sacred city where the heavens guided rituals and daily life. The builders integrated celestial cycles into architecture, creating a city that embodied cosmic harmony.
