Toyota Gazoo Racing and Lexus Unveil Flagship Sports Cars: GR GT, GR GT3, and Lexus LFA Concept
Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) and Lexus have officially revealed three groundbreaking models—the GR GT, GR GT3, and the Lexus LFA Concept—positioned as modern flagships in the tradition of the legendary Toyota 2000GT and Lexus LFA.
🚗 A New Era of Flagship Sports Cars
On December 5, 2025, Toyota Gazoo Racing and Lexus held the world premiere of their latest creations. These vehicles embody Toyota’s philosophy of Shikinen Sengu—a Japanese ritual of rebuilding shrines to preserve craftsmanship—symbolizing the preservation and evolution of car-making skills for future generations.
GR GT: A new flagship sports car designed with motorsports DNA, featuring a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, a low center of gravity, and Toyota’s first all-aluminum body frame. Its powertrain includes a newly developed 4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine with dry-sump lubrication, paired with a carbon-fiber torque tube and transaxle layout. The GR GT emphasizes aerodynamic performance and driver-focused engineering.
GR GT3: Built on the GR GT platform, this FIA GT3-spec race car is engineered for global competition. It combines high performance with accessibility, aiming to attract both professional and gentleman drivers. Toyota Gazoo Racing also plans to establish a strong support system for customers competing in international GT3 series.
Lexus LFA Concept: A bold step into the future of battery electric vehicles (BEVs), this concept aims to redefine expectations of electric sports cars. Inspired by the spirit of the original LFA, it balances styling with driving performance while leveraging advanced technologies to prove that BEV sports cars can deliver thrilling experiences.
🔑 Shared Philosophy
All three models were developed under a unified approach emphasizing:
- Low center of gravity
- Lightweight yet rigid construction
- Aerodynamic excellence
Development was guided by Toyota Motor Corporation Chairman Akio Toyoda (Master Driver Morizo), alongside professional and gentleman drivers, ensuring that the cars reflect real-world driving perspectives.
🌍 Legacy and Future
These vehicles are not just prototypes—they represent Toyota and Lexus’s commitment to preserving essential car-making skills while embracing new technologies. Positioned as successors to iconic models, they aim to inspire a new generation of drivers and enthusiasts.
