 A team of palaeontologists has uncovered a previously unknown species of ancient snake, shedding new light on the evolution of these reptiles. The fossil, unearthed from sedimentary rock layers dating back millions of years, reveals an unusual combination of features that set it apart from both modern and extinct snakes.


The newly identified species displays a mix of primitive and advanced traits.
