Beloved Bay Area Bakery “Feel Good” to Close After 21 Years of Service

After more than two decades of serving artisan breads and pastries to the Alameda community, Feel Good Bakery has announced it will close both of its locations on October 31, 2025.

The bakery, known for its handcrafted baguettes, chocolate-infused pastries, and savory treats like pizza and salads, has been a staple in the East Bay since it first opened in Alameda Marketplace in August 2004. Founded by Danielle Forestier and Rick Kellner, Feel Good Bakery quickly gained a loyal following for its Paris-inspired baking and commitment to quality ingredients, including chocolate sourced from Guittard.

In a heartfelt message posted on its website, the bakery shared:

“This was not an easy decision, and it comes only after thoughtful consideration of all available options. For years, we’ve had the opportunity and privilege of serving you and the entire Alameda community. Your kindness and support throughout the years have meant the world to us.”

The closure includes both the original Alameda Marketplace location and the second outpost inside the Encinal Shopping Center. Online orders have already been suspended, and any preorders will be refunded.

While the specific reasons behind the closure remain undisclosed, the announcement has sparked an outpouring of appreciation from longtime customers who cherished the bakery’s warm atmosphere and signature offerings.

Feel Good Bakery’s departure marks the end of an era for Alameda’s food scene, leaving behind memories of flaky croissants, colorful macarons, and a deep sense of community.
